@tamar.creates.ugc: One week into UGC at 42, and I can now confirm that I am officially in the club because I almost got scammed by a jewelry brand. 😂 I’ve also spent the week making mediocre sample videos, applying for campaigns and trying to figure out which UGC platforms actually lead somewhere. Here’s where I’ve had real movement so far: 📱 SideShift: This is where I landed my first paid tech campaign after only five days. It includes a small monthly retainer plus a performance bonus. SideShift has leaned more toward apps, tech and Canva-style opportunities from what I’ve seen. 💜 Trybe: I was accepted for two gifted collaborations. Gifted is not the same as getting paid, but I’m using the products and videos to gain experience and build stronger portfolio examples. 💻 Reddit: I connected directly with a potential client and started discussing a paid project. Reddit requires more digging, but there are legitimate opportunities mixed in with the foolishness. ✨ JoinBrands: My profile is active and I’ve been applying, but I haven’t secured anything there yet. 🐦 X: I’m using it to connect with other creators, find leads and learn where people are actually finding work. No signed campaign from it yet, but it has been useful for information and networking. So no, I didn’t make $10,000 in three hours while lying in bed. But in one week, I landed my first paid tech campaign, secured two gifted collaborations, started a direct client conversation and learned enough about scam offers to deserve an honorary badge. My biggest lesson so far? You do not need to wait until your portfolio is perfect. Mine certainly wasn’t. You need a few examples, a complete profile, the courage to apply before you feel ready and enough common sense to ask questions before giving anyone your money. This is only week one.
