The same beliefs about who we are and what kind of life is “realistic” for us. Not because we necessarily love them, but because we know them. And sometimes the life we actually want requires us to become a beginner again. To go somewhere we don’t know anyone. To try something we might be bad at. To leave something that’s perfectly fine because we know it’s no longer right. To choose the thing that excites us even when we can’t predict exactly where it will lead. I think we spend so much time waiting to feel certain before we change. But maybe certainty comes after we move.
