I think one good quality of being a DJ is knowing your audience (especially in a small environment like this). Cause this is a completely wrong audience to play WYDTT for. 😂

PART 2: Understanding the Teenage Brain Changes How You Respond Your teenager’s behavior can be frustrating, confusing, and sometimes downright exhausting. But once you understand what’s happening inside the teenage brain, you may start responding differently. Their prefrontal cortex is still developing. The amygdala can be highly reactive. Dopamine makes novelty, excitement, and immediate rewards especially powerful. Their ability to pause, think through consequences, regulate emotions, and see the bigger picture is still under construction. That doesn’t mean we excuse poor behavior. It means we look underneath the behavior before deciding how to respond. The behavior you see is often the symptom. Understanding what’s happening in the brain can help you recognize what your teenager may be struggling with in that moment. And this is where your response matters. You can stay calm while still holding a boundary. You can show compassion while still expecting responsibility. You can help them regulate without doing the regulating for them. When you understand the teenage brain, you’re less likely to take every eye roll, shutdown, or emotional reaction personally. You can pause, regulate yourself, and respond in a way that teaches your teenager instead of simply reacting to them. Understanding their brain doesn’t mean lowering your expectations. It means becoming more intentional about how you help them grow.
