Senegal and The Gambia are the same people of heritage. I am a Gambian myself but grandparents from Jolof in Senegal. The colonialists signed their treaty back in 1455 . The British, French, Portuguese and Dutch all fought bloody nasty battles about who controlled that territory, in the end the British and the French signed a treaty of ownership. Senegal to the French and the Gambia to the British. The Atlantic slave trade was the main income of the invaders
