@zerodollarcoaching: Some employees are getting raises this year. Some aren’t. And if you’re an employee, you’re probably about to disagree with at least one of these. #SmallBusiness #leadership #management
We all agree we would never work for this guy right?

I was the perfect employee for 8 years. Worked hard, came in early, stayed late, and kept a good attitude. Then a promotion came open and I was told, I was to valuable in my position. They hired someone from outside the company that was friends with the boss. That was my breaking point and I became the not my job guy.

Some times the employer turns the good employee into the “it’s not my job employee” . When you don’t get appreciated for going above and beyond and the lazy employees getting the same pay , same bonuses why bother . Now it’s just come in , do my job and go home .

here's why prices go up and profits go up, but employee's wages shouldn't keep up with inflation

So you’re mad at an employee for doing what their job is and not going above and beyond without pay.

Walking past something you don't get paid to do seems pretty reasonable. If you are a landscaper mowing someone's yard and look over and see the yard next to it needs to be mowed, you don't mow it until you get paid to do it.

I live this BS every day!!!! Traci is all of the things you address! I’m actually the employee that does everything and most helpful, but I don’t say anything and get taken advantage of. I don’t suck azz, but shit needs to get done. Talking down about the new people? Give them a break. We all need a job.

If you want your employees to do more you pay more ASAP! You hired them for 1 job description. So if their raise should be based on that 1 description that they do very well. "Hey John, I'm not going to give you a raise because I wasn't able to get FREE WORK out of you in the past that was out of your job description. Now I know I hired you for this one job description and you do it very well, but I have to punish you because of the FREE WORK I wasn't able to get" See how asinine that sounds. Because in the corporate world give an inch take a mile holds true for management. They ask once or twice they expect it afterwards. So, if you want employees to go up and beyond then negotiate right then and there a pay raise. BUT WAIT!!! MANAGEMENT IS SUPPOSED TO STEP IN WHEN THE TEAM IS OVERWHELMED, WHERE IS THE MANAGER?

I’ve been going above and beyond for the company for 5-6 years and max I got was a $0.20 raise each year so I’m around $1.20 raise for going above and beyond

not my job employees are created because they've been let down by their boss and coworkers so much they just do what they need to and nothing else. ive been there. I always work my ass off first few months til I see manager has their favorites, if im staying late to finish up everyone else leaves. etc. it usually comes p mes down to poor management if you have these employees
