@fit.mom.carlyn: You need to teach your kid to fit in and know basic society rules. How they choose to live their life is their choice, but your job is to make they have the basic skills to fall back on when needed. #Christiantiktok #parents #kids #social #skills
By teaching them, they then have a choice in adulthood. When you don’t develop those skills you’ve essentially chosen for them to struggle.

Listen I am weird AF at home 😂 but my mama taught me to “act right in public” 🤣 My kiddos are the same. No kitty ears or black trench coats over here 🤣

💯 just ask any adult in Corporate America. If you can't figure out how to fit in, your career will be short lived.

Thank you. Even the “eccentric” people who march to the beat of their own drums, they actually had to learn how the rules of society worked.

Unpopular opinion but learning to “mask” is super helpful and makes life way more comfortable, easy, and pleasant. I have severe inattentive adhd and am 2E/twice exceptional gifted and I am SO glad I learned to talk to everyone. It made life significantly easier and happier. I am still “myself” but knowing how to get along and how to participate in daily life is huge.

What age would you say the “fitting in” is the most important?

How to learn people. You need to teach your babies how to learn people so they can understand how to approach who they need to. Not everyone is the same and you can’t eat everyone the same

Absolutely! To me that mentality is setting their kids up to be left out & bullied 😮💨

I hate it with every fiber of my being, but so many people don’t teach their kids how to ‘play the game’ socially and professionally and it affects them into adulthood because they can’t work well with others

It’s a good life skill to understand how to be liked and fit in.

My 6 year old son is SO extroverted. I’m trying so hard to teach him social skills and I get A LOT of compliments about his social skills and how smart he is. When people hear that he’s homeschooled they are absolutely shocked. He’s involved in a lot of things and does school every day. I’m trying so hard to Be smart about socializing and educating him and it seems to be working! BTW I love your content!!

I totally feel this. My parents tried their best to tell me what was the norm and I am so glad about that

My mom was a very anxious parent and I only really had play dates with cousins until 2nd grade and it did me zero favors. Yes, I didn’t get kidnapped, but I’ve endured so much unnecessary cruelty. I was often not allowed to do age appropriate things that my peers were doing bc my mom was too over protective and it sent a message that I was developmentally behind to other adults and my peers. Lwk would have rather been kidnapped

My son is respectful but he has adhd and can be “a lot”, he’s only 7 so it’s not that bad right now because all 7 year olds are a lot lol but we’re trying and he just started therapy to work on social skills too.
