That’s not a scam they are passing on the savings to the consumer. Small businesses also do cash discounts vs running credit cards.

You’re only partially right. If you do a direct ACH from your checking account. It’s like losing your wallet. But if you pay with your debit card, which is OK you were using the Visa card number which is protected still like a credit card against theft and can also be charged back. You can also pay with a PayPal debit card, which is free and just deposit money into that account as needed if that’s such a worry. I don’t see the hook here.

$10 a line average person has 4 to 5 lines that’s 40 or $50 a month. This is 2026. Every company offers auto pay so they can get your money and know they’re getting your money when they’re supposed to.
