@birdhism: A message from Splooty the Cockatiel about unconditional love for our birdie bbs. Birds can make us happy, but they don't exist solely to do so. They don't OWE us cuddles, talking, stepping up, performing tricks, or even liking us as they communicate through body language, vocalizations, avoidance, biting, launching things, and even hiding. This is okay. Parrots are intelligent, social animals with their own personalities, preferences, boundaries, and moods. A bird isn't *bad* b/c they bite. They aren't *broken* b/c they don't talk. They aren't "mean" b/c they don't want to step up. Pls be nice to birds, even when they're not nice to you. Listen to their body language, respect their boundaries, and give them choices. Learn who they are, instead of trying to turn them into the bird you imagined bringing home.
