one of my best friends was leelah alcorn. her story is talked about a lot but only those of us who were close knew how brutal it actually was. they couldn’t get the stains off of the pavement.

I was close friends with a kid named Nick in middle school, he was a very athletic kid and loved doing gymnastics. Me and him kind of formed a group with some other kids at the time and we all had one class together and hung out with each other during lunch, and any chance we got. I remember one Wednesday, while in 8th grade, Nick didn’t come to school and me and our other friends were wondering where he was- because no one had heard anything from him since the day prior. I remember sitting in class and asking out loud to my friends, “does anyone know where Nick is?” The teacher overheard, looked at me, and said “we’re not going to talk about that in here” .. and i remember my heart just dropping. I think that’s when I knew. And what felt like two seconds later, a couple of adults that I didn’t recognize asked me and my friend group to go to another room to talk. In that room is where I found out that my friend, Nick, had passed away the night before. I found out from Nicks mom that he was upstairs in his bedroom and was doing a gymnastics trick when he got something caught around his neck, and he couldn’t get it off in time. everything happened in less than 1 hour of him telling his mom he was going upstairs. he passed at home. i’m 23 now, and I still think about him every single day.❤️🩹

A colleagues son died at the age of 8 in hospital of appendicitis. He was in hospital for a few days fighting for his life. After a few days my boss didn’t let him have more free time so he couldn’t be with him the last minutes. The colleague was not able to work anymore. He broke down every day at work. Work reminded him of not being there for his son.

My grandpa was diagnosed with terminal cancer along with having a brain tumor. He never let that stop him from doing the things he loved. He cherished fishing, junking, and gambling. He was very known at the casino, every one loved him am treated him like family. Even though cancer was tearing away at him, his stubbornness is what kept him walking and moving around like the cancer was never there. Then on June 10th 2026 my grandpa was sitting in his truck waiting for my uncle(my grandpas son) to get done with his bath so they can head to my grandpas. When a young man with a history of violence knocked on his window asking for a beer. My grandpa replied with “I am sorry, but I don’t drink. If I had one I would give you one” the man said “I don’t give a fuck” he pulled out a gun pointed in my papas face and pulled the trigger over and over. The man realized it had no ammunition so he began to beat my grandpa with the butt end of the gun. It fractured his jaw split his head open and he lost his eye. I watched as my grandpa slowly slipped away. He could no longer walk and was put in hospice. He died 5 day after the attack. The doctors said he had at least 2 years to live. That man murdered my grandpa. Thankfully he is sitting in jail with a $500,000 bail awaiting trial. I hope the man that did this burns in hell I will never forget my mom telling me my grandpa was screaming in his sleep for help. My grandpas last days were the most horrific days of his life, constantly in fear from the ptsd the man had caused.

Slide 3 is just horrendous… like… wow… that’s beyond sad… life is truly unfair af… having two of three children die due to a rare heart condition and having your third one taken away by a drunk driver… how could possibly even attempt to cope…

My uncle ate bad ground beef during the mad cow disease outbreak back in the 90’s and died from variant Creutfeldt-Jakob disease. It was basically Alzheimer’s but hyper-accelerated. Killed him in 6 months.

My lovely aunty. She was diagnosed with lung cancer in November 2025. She kept it to herself until after Christmas. She then had chemo etc, took the life out of her but she was still here. She broke her leg one day after chemo and was in hospital for 2 weeks. She was told the cancer was gone in may and that she was in remission. 6 days later she had a sore back and didn’t feel right so went back to the hospital via ambulance. About 30 minutes later she went on to have a heart attack and died. She died with no one near her. After beating cancer, she died because of a heart attack. I’ll never forgive the gods for this tbh.

my dad survive a widow making at 38. He got an infection in the hospital. He was unconscious the entire time after 103 degree fever. he started swelling so much they said the only option was to cut his arms and legs to reduce the swelling. his organs were failing so he couldn’t clot blood. he essentially bled to the death in the hospital and went through more than 10 units of blood. it took over 8 hours.

my aunty passed away. the day of her burial her older sister had a heart attack and passed. the day after the older sisters burial their mother passed away. it was a really sad time for my tiny little hometown

The lady who used to do my waxing always seemed so cheerful and kind. My last session with her was a few days before my wedding and she gave me her well wishes and some good advice. I knew someone who was in a terrible car accident and nearly died. Right before he was discharged after 6 months in the hospital with a broken neck, pelvis, and multiple emergency brain surgeries he was diagnosed with cancer. He passed away a few months later. It was really horrible

See, dying from an illness, that's hard. But having your baby die because of a fucking drunk driver after you already lost your other two to the same illness and thought your baby was safe cause she didn't have it and then that? I would go insane. But I am glad they are being Aunty and Uncle to their niblings.

My friend in high school had a similar experience of losing her whole family, all at different times, but all within a matter of a couple of years. She had her parents and two brothers: her oldest brother died in a car accident, then her father passed away from organ failure, then her other brother passed in a hunting accident and her mom died just a few months later of a cancer she didn’t even know she had until right before she passed. She had her entire family at the start of our sophomore year and was orphaned by the end of our senior year.

My friend died of mouth cancer earlier this year. His tongue rotted inside of his mouth before he finally went to the doctor to get diagnosed. They removed his tongue and gave him a feeding tube. He would post about how much agony he was in and the frustration of never being able to eat through his mouth. He caught a fever back in March before dying in his sleep. If you’re wondering why he didn’t go to the hospital earlier for his his tongue, he had schizophrenia and was terrified of hospitals. Cancer sucks. RIP Nathan

my dad and his girlfriend were really badly addicted to drugs and decided to get clean together, moving to california for rehab and actually starting to do really well. but one day they were walking down the street somewhere and she got hit by a car right in front of him and died on impact. i didn't know her very well but i think about it a lot :/ it sucks that her life got cut so short right after things were getting better
