@alleykatmeow13: THE LINDSAY CLANCY JURY HAS BEEN DELIBERATING FOR MORE THAN 36 HOURS, AND IT APPEARS ONE JUROR MAY BE HOLDING UP A UNANIMOUS VERDICT. The jury will now have to return tomorrow after another unusual day in court. Today, the judge brought the jurors back into the courtroom, polled them individually and addressed an issue raised in a jury note involving one juror and the definition of reasonable doubt. The judge reminded the jury that they cannot create their own definition of reasonable doubt and must follow the legal instructions given by the court. We also learned the current split is reportedly 11-1. What makes this even more interesting is the disagreement between the defense and prosecution over what should happen with that juror. Clancy’s defense wanted the juror removed, while prosecutors argued the juror should remain and that what is happening is part of the deliberation process. That certainly raises questions about which direction that 11-1 split may be leaning, but we do NOT officially know how those 11 jurors are voting. If the jury ultimately cannot reach a unanimous verdict, a mistrial remains possible, and prosecutors could potentially retry the case. An acquittal, however, would generally prevent Clancy from being retried on the same charges.
