I use the calendar in my financial planner and write it on each day and total each category mid month and end of the month to see that I’m on budget. Sadly the farmers market is what made me go over my grocery budget. I don’t get as much for the money at the farmers market. I also track my no spend on there too. Last month I had 19 no spend days

I built a spreadsheet and have been using it for 6-7 years. I have a running zero dollar tab and another tab with monthly spending, so I can also see how my spending and savings has changed as I’ve grown in my career and moved and paid off debt. Everything gets added, even a $3 drink.
