a few moths ago I accidentally made a hour 2 hour camping trip take 6 hours. passenger princess. I dont like freeways so I have my GPS set to avoid them. he didn't notice till the way back. he questioned me about it I thought it was fixed... it wasn't. 6 hours for a 2 hour trip. I would have yelled at me. he didnt yell at me. he grabbed my face. turned my head to face the dirt road. kissed my forehead and said that whole 6 hours was so amazing just to see this tracker what an amazing surprise its beautiful. after we got home I asked why he wasn't upset. he has crohn's 6 hours is hell for him. he said it was a mistake why be mad over something you didn't mean to do. I feel so safe with my man. i had a man like your ex once ... he accused me of having sex in portable jhons . had me sign over my paychecks to get deposited into his account became my boss and told me if I left id me homeless and jobless.

Not too long ago I was helping my now girlfriend build a cabinet, and at the end of me building it the cabinet broke and couldn't be put together anymore (the quality of the material caused it to break) it wasn't my fault at all but my body braced to be screamed at and I went into a full blown panic attack. My girlfriend just held me and told me it wasn't my fault, but the years of abuse really follow you into everything. Just gotta find someone who knows your history and is gentle with you when these things happen

I remember once I spilled a drink in my partners car, I felt awful, I apologised so much, I felt panicked about how to clean it up. I didn’t believe him when he said it was okay, and waited for the silent treatment or seething rage to start. But that was one of the moments I realised that he wasn’t anything like my ex.

Same. My boyfriend and I drove through his friends farm field to look at trees he was asked to cut down. We got stuck. I was terrified theough the entire 2 hours it took us to get unstuck in the ice and snow. I was in the car and he was outside of it. I wasn't yelled at or told I didn't do anything to help or told it was my fault even though he brought us out there. He even used his own jacket in a very gentlemanly old school way covering the mud puddle to get traction. We laughed the whole way home. I knew I was safe with him and he wasn't my abusive ex. I takes a lot of safe times and good times to know you're safe again, especially after years, in my case 18. I don't ever miss it. 🖤

My boyfriend hit a pole in a parking lot. The damage was intense. I was standing outside of the truck when he did it. I couldn’t even speak up to say there’s a pole… I cried the whole way home waiting for the explosion… it never came.. he said it’s not a big deal.. it’s just a truck… my ex would have slammed the pole two more times and broke a window… I was waiting for something that wasn’t coming.

The vast majority of my husband's and I's dating had been online and long distance. After we got married he used to get so frustrated at my apologizing all the time when it wasn't needed. (Left over trauma from my Ex husband) He says now one of his greatest accomplishments is making me feel safe enough and loved enough to finally break that habit.

I’ve had so many panic attacks on current husband. He has been so patient. EMDR therapy helped, but I still have moments

when my abusive ex and I were planning to move in together he was at my house and said "we won't live like this". He meant that I had to change because I was too messy (ADHD and other mental health issues). When my fiancee was planning on moving into my place, he came over and said to me "we won't live like this". He meant that he'll look after me and help me keep on top of things. It is such a relief to be with someone who believes you when you say you're struggling.
