Now you know why Americans get so cranky when people from the UK try to tell us we don’t understand how bad their humidity is.

the northeast has always been humid in summer - but NYC used to be humid cocontinually. A thunderstorm used to drop both the heat and the humidity for awhile. but because of climate change we shifted to humid subtropical so we now share a climate zone with Florida, though thankfully not as hot. but it does mean that rain doesn't break up the heat like it used to

The entire East Coast is affected by the Gulf of Mexico in summer. It’s a massive hot tub, generating humidity that gets pumped up the entire East Coast. And then we get freezing, cold Canadian air masses in winter.

girl, when your ancestors sent our ancestors here, they said it was "hell on earth" due to the extremely cold winters and absolute swamp summers...

Come to the south. The humidity is thicker than up there. Up there it’s like a cup of water. Down south it’s like a bowl of soup.

Fun fact about the Midwest! We grow so much corn that it alters the climate as the crop dries out and ripens. The amount of corn creates humidity we wouldn’t have otherwise. A few days ago, the high was 91F but the feelslike was 101F. That’s how much the corn alters our climate

yup. Maine, the furthest north state in the lower 48, is roughly the same latitude as Switzerland. and the southernmost point of Florida is just about the same latitude as Dubai.

I hate humidity. I live in Utah in the western US where it's hot and dry. Current humidity is at 18% right now. Anything over 45% humidity is a lot

It is getting warmer and more humid in the northeast over time - technically it's now considered a humid subtropical climate, which is nuts!

London is at a higher latitude than any place on the "lower 48". Britian and Northern Europe are warm because of the North Atlantic current bringing warm water to that part of the world but England is at a higer latituded then most places in the US. London is closer in latitude to Anchorage Alaska.

California has no humidity so when I lived in the uk I hated the humidity. It was unbearable.
