The speaker one annoys me so much. Why do people think it’s appropriate? Also, every week I have to tell someone I can’t use their SSN to check out their items in place of their library card.

for me its been “that would not be fair to the other patrons” for people who want me to extend their hold pickup window, let them jump the hold line, renew items extra times, etc. too many adults not big on sharing

"let's use kinder words to our friends." and oddly "what you do at your house is your business, but you can't do that here" when i've had to tell multiple sets of teens to stop threatening violence against each other and they told me it was okay because they are siblings. which i get. but also make fighting each other your parents' problem not mine.

"If you'd like to continue your phone call, you're welcome to step into the libby" "Hi, do we have shoes?" which has been said to adults as well "I can't tell you what happened with another customer, just as I wouldn't tell another customer about my interactions with you." to middle schoolers a LOT

I have half this stuff at my job too 😅 (not in a library) I can’t believe how some people act in public (or in my case, in the lobby of a private office building lol)

See, my library system is different. You cannot use someone else's card to check out. As for children, when I find a child alone in the library that appears under age 10, I bend down and say "hey, would you take me to your adult?" bc you don't know the relationship of who brought them & we don't assume. 🙂
