AI needs to be sustainable, Americas power grid simply cannot handle the amount of power and water cooling required for the 4000 data centers all consuming power equivalent to entire cities. there are ways to prevent the waste of water by submerging the servers in water to cool them, and by forcing the companies creating the data centers to offset their consumption by building solar panels on their facilities or by sending funds to the Department of Energy that could be used to create more powerful substations or designate power to data centers while leaving the rest for residential and other commercial use. I repeat, if America does not put the pinch on AI and Data centers proliferation it will overclock our national power grid and will plunge our nation into a total blackout, that will take weeks to fix for major metros, months for significant cities, and nearly a year for suburban and rural areas.
