When my youngest was 2, we were blue lighted to the hospital (queens). His head had bounced off the side of the kitchen table when he fell into it. So so much blood, got there and the receptionist said it wasn’t necessary for the ambulance to be called. Now, if there was no need then they wouldn’t have driven us in, after saying they were to take us in. He was 2 remember. Crying when I was at the desk. She said ‘oh is he special needs?’ Because he was really crying, I said no…. He’s just bashed up part of his head and is in pain. They have so much to bloody say!

I’m sorry but ‘can’t die from abdominal pain’ what if you were having an ectopic pregnancy, perforated bowel, appendicitis, twisted ovary, toxic shock and many more conditions. They can’t decide that the pain is solely the endometriosis without any further assessment, especially if an ambulance has brought you in. Disgusting behaviour from a healthcare professional.

“Can’t die from abdominal pain” is ridiculous because you definitely can. The fact you’re being gaslit by a receptionist is a prime example of how hard it can be for women to be listened to and actually understood. I hope you reach out to PALs and escalate this as there is absolutely no excuse for what you had to deal with.

Sounds like Endometriosis, I suffered for many years with severe period pains that also landed me in hospital several times.

This receptionist definitely shouldn’t had treated you this way, but I think calling a ambulance for period cramps even if they are intense is not necessarily as a nation we abuse the ambulance service, you was able to stand and argue with the lady so I think that ambulance could have been diverted to someone in a life threatening condition. But definitely not an accuse for her to be this rude

for people saying this is “racism” it’s not , and for people saying a ambulance is for a “emergency” , if you are in pain and physically cannot move then a ambulance is needed. but recording in a hospital a&e is wrong as is grounds for removal
