There is a lot to unpack here but the lease does state that subletting is not allowed. You would’ve had to find someone to take over your lease, the office create a new lease so that you wouldn’t be rent responsible for the last months you had in the agreement. As long as your name is on a lease, you will be liable for the apartment.
