That thought doesn’t always go away. The pain stays, the mind can’t forget or cope, and people continue to disappoint. As a Superintendent, I buried 8 children. Those moments don’t go away. Memories of those 8 children, sitting with their families and getting support for all their friends places a weight on you. And if you have your own trauma, it only adds to it. The world starts to fade as you take each breath.
