I'm on T, and I definitely feel anger more strongly than I used to, but it's not hard to not be an aggressive person. you've just got to learn how to vent your anger in a healthy way. I highly recommend chopping wood if you're struggling with more violent forms of anger, it gets it out of your system in a safe way

I follow Robert Sapolsky pretty closely for the last 2 years and he has a playlist on that tuba face of his lectures at Stanford University. in those lectures he talks about testosterone being an antagonist for being more quote manly. however he specifies that societal norms are at play and how that expresses itself. an example he gives is that if you give testosterone to men in America you are more likely to see aggressive behaviors if instead you gave those same levels of testosterone to men in a culture where aggression is less socially linked to being a man perhaps a monastery of monks who believe that the most peaceful and altruistic people are the most manly that you would find instead they would start competing to be more altruistic and more over the top peaceful I'm not perfectly quoting him but I would check it out and see what you think basically what he's saying it's less linked to violence then it is too aggression like it says in this video aggression is a complex and not well defined term and his cake was that it's more about competition the testosterone makes you more competitive within your social circumstances to be the best mate best leader whatever you believe that is you will behave more in that way so I'm wondering if he has reacted to the study at all but I mean interesting interested to hear his take on it @Robert Sapolsky any notes?

Testosterone has actually calmed me (trans) down a lot in that I have an easier time regulating my emotions.

When I was on it from a men’s clinic 10 years ago, and they had me at a high level of testosterone, I can tell you my whole personality changed, and the people around me told me, I turned into a complete ahol. When I got off of it, I was shocked in my own behavior. That was just my experience.

I was 49 years old, overweight and the most grumpiest, father and husband on the planet. I finally pulled the trigger and went to a man's clinic and had my hormones optimized AKA testosterone replacement therapy and I have never been a kinder more calmer human being

my take as a trans guy, my experience is it makes me more impulsive/less hesitant. the ways that I get angry and the things that I want to do when angry are the same, but Im now more likely to do something aggressive without thinking first. but im also more likely to do a lot of things without thinking, including just general better "executive function" in that i show up with more initiative to complete tasks, and the anger and desire to be aggressive in certain ways have always existed, and still require similar coping strategies to manage.

You’re videos often glitch, pausing to loading in the frames every .5 seconds. Making it unwatchable, unfortunately. 🌸🌸l

I was on T for trans HRT and I didn’t become more aggressive, I just had more access to my range of emotions. But it’s hard to tell what is from the hormone and what is from lessening dysphoria

Also I’d recommend for people who are take T if you notice yourself being overly angry or way more irritable (obviously that can be normal) I’d recommend getting your levels checked because it can be a sign that your levels are too high

crazy though, maybe the scientist didn't feel confident in the designation of female aggression, is that crazy?

as a transmasculine person on t, like others in the comments, it did not make me more aggressive or angry, although there were mood effects. to comment on them only using males in the study- even on pretty low doses of t you can have a few permanent effects including changes to your voice and genital shape that most cis women wouldn't want and also would be impossible to double-blind

ive always been a very non-aggressive person, more on the passive/conciliatory side, but i didnt notice any difference in aggression on T. i feel calmer and more confident, but not aggressive at all. tbh i would wonder how much of it is placebo - seeing aggression as “masculine” and expecting T = more masculinity = more aggro.

Estrogen is the issue since Testosterone on it's own can aromatase to some extent into Estrogen if other things aren't added in order to prevent it depending on what type you add and it's risks.
Testosterone itself is far from an issue, an increase is good and healthy for pretty much all men the only things is that with very high levels it can effect cognitive function to some extent but not even close to the same extent that too low testosterone levels does.
You can't forget that all hormones works in somewhat of a feedback loop no matter if we are talking adrenal or otherwise so everything gets affected to some level if anything is tinkered with.
