@globeandmail: More than a decade ago, Gloria Steinem shared her reflections on how women and men experience aging differently in an interview with The Globe and Mail's Ian Brown in Toronto. For Steinem, getting older meant freeing herself of gendered expectations, she said in December, 2015. The feminist icon and celebrated writer died at the age of 92 on Wednesday. #GloriaSteinem #Archives
Hardest years for me were 45-55. I’m 61 now and have never been happier.

Being invisible is life altering, you finally get to be yourself, think only about yourself, do what YOU want. It’s wonderful 🥰

I’m 58 and out the other side of menopause which sucked. But now I am feeling like a new and better woman. Bring it on

The 50s have been tough. Can’t wait to retire at 58.5 in two months and start a new career.

I really think it depends on your financial situation. I am 59 and I still work. I’m still doing everything I used to do but now I’m being judged as being old.

I am 56 - I have no money no home of my own. I didn’t have my son for 13 years, I have no freedom or life or anything to look forward to

Because women are the real warriors, we do it all, we create it all, we take it all on, we make it all happen, we can survive anything!

Don’t get me wrong but when we celebrate Dolly more than Gloria I am saddened how the current generation of women don’t understand why they are as privileged as they are because of Gloria. At my work the young ones act like they are entitled to equality but they don’t know this women did the heavy lifting. Respect for you!

Women often center this need for men when they want to have babies. Less of us want babies now so it’s easier for us to decenter men!
