Pregnant Worker At ACE Chased Down Thief And Retrieved AC A pregnant Ace Hardware employee took matters into her own hands when she confronted a suspected shoplifter and wrestled back an air conditioner he allegedly stole from the Palmdale store. Surveillance video from the store shows the employee running after a man as he carries the boxed air conditioner away from the business on Friday, Aug. 28. The worker catches up to the man and grabs hold of the box, leading to a brief struggle before she manages to wrestle it away from him. When asked about the confrontation afterward, the employee told her manager that she had simply “acted on instinct,” according to information provided to KTLA. Store management stressed that employees are not encouraged to confront suspected thieves or put themselves in danger. “We don’t promote or ask our employees to go after thefts, let alone risk their lives,” the manager said in a statement to KTLA. “But on the other hand, this woman deserves a medal for her courage and valor.” The incident occurred around 3:25 p.m., according to the store.
