We as an orthodox Christian cross to the right first as when Jesus was crucified we was crucified with 2 others. The one on right asked for forgiveness and other did not. In certain orthodox crosses there is the right side faces to heaven and the left side points to hell.

God bless you too. Unfortunately dear the sign of the cross substituted all prayers. The sign was used by Christians in the first century when undercover due to persecution showed a sign to reveal to eachother they are Christians, it was never meant to substitute prayers. When the apostles asked Jesus how to prayer He gave them the Our father who art in heaven prayer not telling them to do their cross.

The Coptic Orthodox Church goes left to right. Fr. George Dragas explained why the churches do the opposite sides first, and it’s because of the direction we face and where the icons of the altar are located. Hard to explain via text lol
