Its essence lies in publishing "trash" videos (from "shit" and "posting") that mock serious trends or simply confuse the viewer with their pointlessness. On TikTok, this manifests through overloaded editing, bizarre sound effects, surreal 3D models, or ironic slideshows with deliberately stupid captions. The roots of shitposting trace back to the early 2000s on anonymous imageboards (like 4chan), where users posted incoherent content to disrupt discussions or entertain themselves with "insider" humor. Over time, this evolved into a massive internet culture, which on TikTok became a response to the "perfect" videos of popular influencers.
