VM mimics BPPV though depending on severity or how much your brain has been sensitized…. According to my Neuro and PCP, I’ve asked them many times. They told me it’s physiologically impossible for a VM that affects the vestibular nuclei in the brain stem to knock crystals out in the inner ear. BPPV and VM are totally different conditions from what I was told 😬

I just saw a MCAS specialist and I do have that. High histamine at times, but she said it does not always show up. However, it can trigger VM or other types of headaches and dizziness because it causes inflammation, even in the inner ear. Do you feel better if you take an antihistamine? Also, my neurologist told me that my neck issues can trigger migraines. I had VM all night long on the 1st night of a trip after flying. I would check out if you have high histamine to see if that is triggering the VM.

I’ve been in a severe VM flare since the beginning of May, functionally a status VM or chronic phenotype. My neuro-otologist is an expert on VM

Jen! I’m so happy you’re diagnosed! Sounds like we’re in the same boat, physically, metaphorically, sensorially 😭 I’ll message you if I find anything that really helps me haha xx

So did they think bppv caused the VM?

I was also diagnosed with ETD shortly before I got a diagnosis of VM, PPPD and VN. I'm almost positive my ETD caused my dizzy issues despite my ENT saying the same thing. Vestibular therapy, weekly massages for my neck pain, nurtec and very low dose Zoloft have helped tremendously. Also sleeping enough and walking first thing in the morning, and just stay moving throughout the day, pushing through the discomfort! I feel much much better than I did 5 weeks ago, but still just feel "off". 💕 Also the book, Rock Steady, incredible! Sounds like you've already adopted some of those frameworks.

I also had the full ears. It has to be related because I see so many people say they have it too with their vertigo.
