I started learning korean on teuida. It helped me with basic sentences. I’m still doing teuida but should i stop and learn Hangul?

Omg this is great information! I have been wanting to learn Korean for about a hear and a half but didn't know where to start, I done a little on duolingo but didn't keep it up because I wanted more and wasn't sure where else to go as I couldn't afford a tutor unfortunately. I'm going to try what you have done and see how I get on with it. All I watch is Kdramas and I know alot of individual words but not full on sentences. Thank you so much, glad you came up on my fyp. 👌🥰

3년 밖에 안됐는데 그것도 독학으로 이렇게 높은 수준의 한국어를 구사하다니 너무 놀랍네

Your video gives me hope that I’ll actually be able to speak Korean one day! 😅Ive started the same way as you, Duolingo, then learning Hangul & Batchim on YouTube & getting the TTMIK books! I’m on day 45 now, will defo be trying the other resources you mentioned & just take it 1 day at a time 🫶

Teaching others is also a fast way to learn. I'm teaching high school students this month and really, we are learning together.

I know my vowels and consonants, now I’m on batchim a bit more. Tho I read Hangul better and can read simple words I still can’t understand the meaning of them😭 I didn’t think Korean was this hard. Do you guys just simply memorize every Korean word? lol.

TTMIK, the cost has been the biggest barrier for me. Looking back, do you feel like the cost was worth it? I’ve been studying for ~8 months & not unhappy with my progress, but there are certain elements of TTMIK that I think would benefit me if you really “get what you pay for,” essentially.

I truly appreciate that I have found your account! It mirrors so much of my language learning journey and how it’s not been linear in anyway. My journey is waaay to complex to put into a comment, but I will say I think being much older now (28) in comparison to when I was self-teaching and got a chance to take a few casual classes in my late teens & early 20s, I think I have much better brain to take on language learning. I think also having been diagnosed adhd and having much more patience with myself, I can actually grasp things as my attention is a bit more regulated. You’re a big inspiration with what I can accomplish now that I have external resources and know where to look & actively living in a city where I can USE it due to tourism and a rather nice K-Town. There’s been sooo many times I could’ve helped Korean tourists if I was more confident in my vocab - reading & writing means nothing if I can’t go beyond a few words in conversation or pick up a few things here and there when listening to conversations or in music. I’m excited for restarting my Korean, refreshing it first and diving further! <3 thanks for sharing what you do!!
