GREEN platano is different from YELLOW. Stop telling her to fry it twice and add salt. Yellow is not meant to be fried twice and add salt! Omg lol

Fry them in more oil enough to go halfway up the slice. I’m Honduran and we eat these sweet ones for breakfast with eggs, black beans, sour cream and I like queso fresco

I never cook plantains. I only ate plantains chips. You did great cooking your own. It depends on how you want it to turn out.

The green banana/plantain is to make tostones. Those are double fried for a crispy, yummy result. When it’s softer & the outside is yellow that is plátano maduro (it’s sweet & ripe). And you get a sweet caramalized result. You don’t pan fry them. You have to fry them in oil where the oil almost covers the pieces. Keep trying ❤️

For being your first time making them, you did really good! 😊 next time I recommend adding a little more oil.
For maduros, you use ripe, sweet plantains. Cut them diagonally into slices and fry them once until they’re golden brown and caramelized.
For tostones, you use green plantains. Cut them into pieces and fry them once until they’re lightly golden. Then, remove them, smash each piece flat, and fry them a second time until they’re crispy and golden. We usually use a little more oil when frying tostones.

Girl you should fry them with butter and let them get golden brown as soon as they look the same on both sides take them out and add a sprinkle of sugar all over them!! I highly recommend trying it that way

cut a little thicker, than fried them, add a bit more oil, after you fried them, smashed them a bit, and fried them again.
