@bradenstl: The newest section of the Brickline Greenway along Market Street connects Energizer Park to Harris-Stowe State University and extends Damon Davis’ Pillars of the Valley. The pillars honor Mill Creek Valley, a once thriving Black neighborhood where 20,000 residents were displaced during “urban renewal.” Today, the greenway helps tell those stories in a place where that history actually happened. And it’s about more than remembering the past. The new greenway creates safer, more accessible ways to walk, bike, roll and explore St. Louis while connecting neighborhoods, businesses, schools and major destinations along Market Street. This is what makes projects like the Brickline Greenway so exciting to a St. Louisan like me. It’s building a more connected future while making sure we don’t forget the people and communities that shaped our city.
