As somebody who lives in Wetumpka and remembers this incident, they were arrested after coming back and feeding the cats despite already being told not to by the same officers who later arrested them. The issue wasn’t simply that they were feeding cats it was that they had previously been told not to return to that area.

They only got arrested because the mayor told the officers to do it. There isn’t any law in AL that prohibits feeding cats on public property. These ladies were trapping the cat, getting them fixed and vaccinated with their own money, and tried to find homes for the cats when they could. That lady in green is an Army vet. This entire story was featured on A&E’s My Strange Arrest.

As a vet tech, we appreciate people like this who help control the over population of cats!! So thankful they took the time out of their days to make sure these animals were spayed/neuter, and fed! Glad they won their case!
