I genuinely don’t understand that guy. Berserk isn’t trying to fantasize sexual assault, it’s literally the opposite. He seems to think that because sexual assault is present in the story and how it is presented to the reader makes it correct to criticize the fact that it’s there. Berserk has the freedom to show it and makes it brutal to make you feel disgusted. That’s the point. This just feels so performative and bad criticism. If you are so absolutely disgusted by just dont read it. But that doesn’t mean that you get to criticize something about it that’s supposed to be the way it is. Jake makes it sound like this is some sexist story when it has some of the best written female characters in fiction.

but what you need to understand is the realism of it the sad truth is if intelligent organisms had supernatural powers that would happen ALOT because they enjoy it and nobody can really stop them Now yes it happens alot maybe too much but it makes Berserk more dark and when you look at the whole series it doesn't happen alot, yes it's still bad but it doesn't happen that many times off the top of my head I can only think of 5 instances but again that's not me defending it that's me saying it's how the world of Berserk just works

i dont understand the specific targeting to cascas tragedy in these types of videos criticising berserk for its scenes ( yes they are a little over the top certainly not a topic to take lightly) but these people never talk about guts and his case WHEN HE WAS A KID SOLD BY HIS OWN FATHER FIGURE. woldnt that be a earlier braking ponit as it happens literally at like the 3rd volume way before we see the eclipse. and these people never talk about the fucked up shit Wyald dose in only the 10 chapters he is apart in. i just feel its so performative to talk so passionately against the casca scene and not bring up the other cases. beserk while not being the best representation of this isnt a story to just read mindlessly everything good or bad in berserk has a very big part to play in the overarching theme. SA isn't also taken lightly but a tragedy that plagues the characters of beserk for years some times never recovering. It might be the best representation of isolation, SA and abuse.

I genuinely think ppl can’t handle animated or comic sa cuz usually these ppl are fine with watching game of thrones or Oz and other similar live action shows that depict it but for some reasons when a manga/anime depicts it it’s much more uncomfortable for people
