@catholic.for.catholics: Archaeologists have uncovered the ancient site believed to be where Jesus was held after His arrest. Beneath St. Peter in Gallicantu, traditionally linked to Caiaphas’s house, excavators found Jewish ritual baths, underground chambers and a deep rock-cut pit. Nearby caves also contain stone rings built into the walls and ceiling for binding prisoners. Even more incredible, a pilgrim writing in AD 333 identified this exact area as Caiaphas’s house and the place Jesus was scourged. Byzantine Christians later built a church above the pit and carved crosses into its walls. #fyp #catholic #jesuschrist
