you can break free from religion, and STILL believe in God and Love Him amd have a relationship with him. He's so different than what most religions teach. He's there and Loves you no matter what.

That’s wonderful that you have a sibling you can relate to. I’m the only one of my siblings who has stepped away from the church; my other two are still deeply devoted and involved. I still believe in Jesus and try to live according to His teachings, but I see myself as more of a follower of Christ than a religious person. For me, the trauma came from the church, not from Christ. As I’ve healed, I’ve begun questioning what I was taught and separating my relationship with Jesus from organized religion and the control I felt the church often exercised through its interpretation of the Bible.
