The easiest way to cut a perfectly blended fringe This technique is my go-to when a client already has a full bang but wants to add shape and a soft cascading side fringe. Think Jenna Ortega. Step 1: Find your section. Use your comb to follow the curve of the head. Where the comb naturally lifts away from the head is the highest point of your triangle. From there, part down toward the end of the eyebrow on each side. This creates the most flattering bang section for your client’s head shape. Step 2: Establish your blend. Take the entire section and pull it straight out from the head. Depending on your desired result, elevate to 45° or 90°. Decide where you want the shortest length to live and start tease-cutting with your shears at that point. This creates a super soft blend that styles effortlessly. You could stop right here for curtain bangs… but we’re going for a cascading fringe. Step 3: Create the cascade. Part the section according to the client’s natural part. Hold the hair like you’re palming a basketball (in this case the basketball being your clients head), placing the half section between your index and middle finger with tension. Pivot your fingers so your fingertips land at the brows and your knuckles sit toward the tip of the nose. Find your guide from the previously cut full bang and slide cut, pulling up and away from the face as you go. And voilà — a perfectly blended fringe every time! If you like these quick tutorials, let me know in the comments! I’d love to share more. Shoutout to @michaelshauncorby for introducing me to what I now call “the pivot method” in my chair — because I love any excuse to create a pop culture reference that will stick in your brain 😉 #haircutting #cuttingtutorial #fringebangs #curtainbangs #hairtutorial
