@vuyiswaramokgopa: Critical minerals are more than a resource they are an opportunity to reshape how Africa participates in the global economy. 🌍 At the African Critical Minerals Summit, I challenged us to think beyond extraction and ask how we can increase the economic multiplier of our mineral wealth creating industries, jobs, skills and greater value on the continent. The question is not only what we have. It is what we choose to build from it. #AfricanCriticalMineralsSummit #CriticalMinerals #EconomicDevelopment #Industrialisation #growinggautengtogether

Beneficiation must be the Buzzword when talking about Critical minerals. We must have amicable legislative framework. We must have less rhetorics and more implementation. Public-private partnership and other stakeholders will play an imperative role. #CriticalMinerals#Beneficiation.

This is awesome coming from someone at a vantage point who recognizes that no matter how broad their perspective, their eyes and mind cannot be everywhere. That recognition makes it possible to appreciate the contribution that can come from someone standing on the lowest rung of life. Our critical mineral base ought to play precisely that role: a base, not the destination. The greater value must be built from our imagination, and our imagination is boundless. We have a unique advantage in being able to view life from the lowest levels of wealth, opportunity and empowerment. We know what we critically lack. We understand the barriers that repeatedly hold back even the most ambitious interventions and reduce their results to something far less than what they could have achieved. The fundamental problem is that the majority of our people are not participants in the value chain. These are precisely the people we hope to lift out of poverty. Consider what happens when someone at the bottom manages to produce a product or service. In many cases, it struggles to go anywhere. It eventually dies because it is competing against products and services produced by established, well-funded businesses with stronger distribution networks, greater visibility and accumulated advantages. Even the money that poor households spend tends to flow toward established and affluent businesses. Once it leaves the hands of the poor, the critical question becomes: How does even a small portion of that value flow back to the people at the bottom? This leads us to a much more fundamental question: What can the poorest and smallest enterprises produce that established businesses and wealthier consumers will repeatedly buy? Part 1 of 3.
