Calling Out the Patriarchy :
That's why I'm so against nuclear families...they were designed to trap women to a man with no sisterhood. Super unnatural and dangerous.

Sadly my great grandmother had 14 kids. All 11 months apart. 😭😭 back then I thought that was cool. Now that my eyes are open and have more of an understanding, she was abused.

Let’s raise a glass to those raging grannies who had enough of the patriarchy and took matters into their own hands. 🍻🥂

My great grandma shot and killed her husband. He was a violent drunk. He came home drunk and was shooting at her children and herself. She grabbed a shotgun and dropped his ass to save her children. She was taken to jail. Her father in law told the sheriff that his son deserved it. She was released. She became a minister and raised her children in peace.

This is the energy women need today, as more men are being radicalized against women.

My grandmother took over my grandpa’s family business when he wanted to be an alcoholic and retire at 40 years old. She did so well and everyone respected her as a wonderful businesswoman in a mainly male field. (Tire sales)

She never made it out before she passed but boy did she make sure that I knew to NEVER put my life and livelihood in a man's hands. She would be so proud of who I am today.

My grandma was a barely 15 when she married. She worked in the coal mines. Bore 4 kids to her first husband. He was horrible. He scared her. She caught him cheating when my aunt was not even 1. That was the straw. She hit him over the head with a cast iron skillet, packed her kids up, and started over. He knew where they were. He never contacted them again. He had a whole new family the following years. He died an amputee, a drunk, and alone. She died surrounded by the kids she fought to protect, around the grandkids that loved hearing her stories of growing up on a farm in Virginia, the people she influenced as a nursing supervisor, and a community of people she never knew loved her. That is the ultimate get back. She lived a full life after David. It wasn't perfect but she'd already been through hell so imperfect was a gift.

my grandma had 12 kids, grandpa would get drunk and drag her upstairs by her hair when she was pregnant. My dad and hus sibling threatened him with a broken glass bottle to never her touch her again. He died years ago and I never saw her happier. She travelled and was free as a bird. The sweetest woman ever. Violet was her name🥰

I hate when people say "marriages used to last" cause women didn't have a choice until the late 1900's

My great grandpa beat my great grandma while drunk. After, he passed out in bed. She sewed him in the sheets and beat him with a buggy whip. He never beat her or her children again.

My grandma was making spaghetti for dinner. My grandfather came in and demanded to know where dinner was. She dumped the pot on him and took just the kids out for dinner. He never demanded dinner again.

Not my grandma but her sister. Her husband beat her cause the food wasn't ready when he got home, mind you she had 4 kids under the age of 7. That night he got "food poisoning" and had to go to the ER. When he got back she told him remember who feeds you. He never laid a hand on her again. He quickly learned to treat her like a Queen.
