why is it always about the criminal and never the victim.

I don't know the story at all. But you missed the more important details. That driver now has to prove his innocence, deal with the psychological trauma, and pray that the dash camera, log book, (even electronic logs have to be cleared) and the d.o.t. and responding law enforcement and his company all find nothing to place blame on the driver. And even if all of that is clear he can still get sued by his family or any attorney that finds a reason to go after the driver. A situation like that can put a driver in prison for a minor mistake or infraction, ruin their career, and lead to years of legal trouble. It why I quit driving a truck... too much risk and they are actively removing the reward of the job!

TPS.... It's not a path to permanent residency or citizenship, but a temporary measure.

One major thing a lot don’t realize now is that driver will have a “fatality” on his driving record for years and that’ll make it hard as hell for any company to get him approved on insurance

and it's the truck driver that's at the risk of losing his license because someone stepped in front of him and that's the risks you take when you're a professional driver you risk your license when any and all accidents happen

I felt bad for the kid, he was top of his class junior rotc and was about to go to college. He never had committed a crime. He was so humiliated and depressed bc prior to this only criminals had to wear ankle monitors. It had to be depressing after being rotc and planning college with scholarships to find out the country you were planning to serve treated you like a criminal. I KNOW you can join the military and become a citizen. My son was ARMY. This is one case I think the ankle monitor was uncalled for, they knew where the hell he was and who he was, he didnt just pop up out of no damn where.
