Sometimes, We Forget What We Have Thai Buddhist Amulets for Beginners EP 200. I once asked a Thai family visiting Singapore, “Are you Buddhist?” They said yes. I told them that whenever I visit Thailand, I spend much of my time visiting temples. There was a brief silence. Then they told me... “It has been a long time since ww last visited a temple.” So I said, “Kathina is coming soon. Perhaps it's a good opportunity to visit a temple again, reconnect with your faith, and rebuild that habit.” After that conversation, I began to reflect. Sometimes, we take things for granted simply because they are always within reach. Some people live far away from a Buddhist temple. They long for the opportunity to visit, to pray, to chant, or simply to sit quietly for a while. Yet others have temples nearby but rarely find the time to go. Of course, visiting a temple is not a must. And faith is not measured by how often we visit. But life gets busy. Sometimes, we forget to make time for ourselves, to quiet our minds and reconnect with what matters. And this brings me to Thai amulets. Many of us wear an amulet because of our faith, our respect for a revered monk, or the meaning behind a particular Buddha image. But have we ever stopped to think... What does that amulet remind us of? An amulet can remind us of the Buddha, the Dhamma, and the values we wish to practise in our daily lives. But wearing an amulet and nurturing our faith are not quite the same thing. We can carry an amulet with us every day, yet forget to make time for the very teachings it represents. We don't visit temples only to ask for blessings. We can go to express gratitude. To chant. To reflect. To learn. Or simply to find a little peace amid our busy lives. Sometimes, we don't need to ask for anything in return. Taking that time for ourselves may already be meaningful. With Kathina approaching, perhaps this is a gentle reminder. If you have the time, visit a temple. Reconnect with your faith. Reflect on your journey. And let your amulet remind you of something deeper than the object itself. Because the amulet doesn't walk the path for us. It reminds us of the path we can choose to walk. I explore Thai amulets as a Buddhist and collector, sharing insights and reflections from the journey. Follow 33Amulets Academy if you're walking this path step by step. Take action.
