My husband used to like to come “help” unload the dishwasher after I was already mostly done. I’d say “What are you doing? I’m already doing this”, and he’d be like “Well I was trying to help, sorry it’s not appreciated.” The next time he mowed the lawn, I went out and grabbed to handle of the mower to take over. He was like “WTF are you doing?”, to which I replied “I was just trying to help, sorry it’s not appreciated.” He was annoyed but he at least kinda got the picture.

When my hubby announces he's done something, it's to inform me it doesn't need done because he knows I'm not about to thank him. I reply, ok awesome. Why? Because it's OUR house so it's OUR chores.

I HATE food shopping. The amount of thinking and planning. Making sure I don't forget something because I'm going to have to deal with it later. It's overwhelming and always overlooked.

The one time my husband complained the stove was dirty, I looked at him and asked if his hands were broken. he said no. I said well if you see the stove is dirty, then clean it. the fuck you need me to tell you what needs to be done? you have eyes and critical thinking, yeah? never again, point made😂

"We" had to dig a 9x9' hole that was 6-8" deep for gravel for our hot tub... I was busting ass trying to give a contractor to come get it done but everyone was busy... I decided to dig it myself by hand in a day.....I was so friggin proud.... he "helped" with the last couple Square feet and suddenly "we" dug the hole together now.....

Language is so important here. If he says he’s ’helping you’ he absolutely views it as ur responsibility. Even if he says he doesn’t. Subconsciously his mind is choosing what he actually believes.

I thank my husband for cleaning the kitchen, even though he does it almost every day. He thanks me for cooking dinner, even though I do it almost everyday. We ALWAYS thank each other even if they are our “normal” chores.

When I’m away from home, my husband will text me the few things he’s done (fed cats, emptied dishwasher, washed the car). I asked him why he’s texting and he said he didn’t want me to think he wasn’t doing anything. So, while he was home laying on the couch watching TV, I text him all the things I was doing (meal plan, grocery list, replacing TP, cleaning, prepping for our trip, etc.). He was annoyed and asked why I was doing that. My response was the same as his. Baby steps.
