When I started dating my husband, he asked me how I felt about him smoking. I told him I didn’t mind being around it, but for his health I wasn’t a fan and if he kept smoking I’d probably pick it up myself. He quit cold turkey after that. That was 10 years ago and I still tell him how much that meant to me.

I smoke, my friend does not. I went over to her house one time for a party when she was having a bad mental health day. she asked me to come inside and do a shot with her. I said sure, just let me finish this smoke and ill be right in. she said "oh its fine, just bring it inside i could care less" and i told her "you may not respect yourself right now but I DO, im not smoking in your house"

My friend is 100% sober doesn’t even like weed. I make sure I am also sober when I go and see her. Even if it means being in a little bit of pain. My friend is my family

it really is so easy to do this type of thing. the fact that some people act like it's a huge deal or inconvenience is crazy bc wdym you can't have a TINY bit of self control

My husband is a recovered alcoholic, for some reason people are really surprised to hear that I choose not to drink anymore because I don’t want to bring alcohol into our home.

I get migraines from strong scents and I have the best friend ever that makes sure not to use sprays or anything if she knows I'm coming over and it makes me feel so loved 🥹

This! because why is it so hard not to smoke and vape in the house when it bothers me and gets in my CPAP that I need to breathe at night. A lot of my perspective changed when I quit smoking and I will stand by that weed is addictive in some way because it shouldn't be that hard to prioritize the health of someone you love over a joint

i have an alcoholic mom and refused to touch alcohol, then i hit 25 and decided i’d try it (hate it). but up until then, my friends were so respectful and would constantly ask me if i was okay with them drinking around me (i never said they couldn’t, they are just considerate) i love them!

Before my husband and I even started dating he was a smoker and I was not. We had talked about it and I said it didn’t bother me I would just sit out while he smoked. He immediately quit cold turkey no questions asked without making me feel bad about it. Recently I found out I was pregnant and he also pretty much has quit drinking cold turkey with me as well. When people respect and care about you it will show. I’m pregnant and there are still people who have no issue getting drunk around me and it is very uncomfortable and annoying. People should read the room more often. It’s a respect thing

My hubby doesn’t tolerate going out clubbing and being in an environment where multiple men will def hit on me or others will not take rejection, I def stopped clubbing and going out to bars late at night . Vice versa as well and that’s a relationship right there is both openly communicating and respecting each others boundaries and some ppl don’t understand that . I cut off my old best friend and cousin for that. Now they hang out together but yet their friendship has ALOT of jealousy and dishonesty between the two . It’s sad

I've been sober for 7 years. My best friend refuses to drink in front of me! 💗 My ex friend brought around a handle of liquor on my 10th month of being sober because she said it's no big deal. I never talked to her again, people really show you that they don't care about you.

I've been vegetarian for 20 years. I had one boyfriend who took me out to texas de brazil, where they bring large slabs of meat to carve at the table, my current boyfriend researched every menu within a 20 mile radius to see everything I could eat and took me where I had the most options

my bestie gets anxious and very protective when we are around other people while drinking. that alone has healed a good chunk of my childhood. they have pulled me out of rooms the moment they get a whif that someone is toooo drunk

I am sober 3 years from alcohol. My boyfriend has drank infront of me twice. And the first time I had to explain to him he was perfectly fine to do it and he still was reluctant. People will show you how much you are worth to them. 🥰

I’m Muslim, so I don’t drink or eat pork. I had one friend who would go out of their way to make sure they wouldn’t get any alcohol or pork when they would eat with me out of kindness. I had another friend that always made sure to get something with pork and a drink and would brag about it. People will want to be kind and accommodating when they actually respect you.
