"ደግነት መጠኑን ከለፈ መብት ሳይሆን ግዴታ ይመስላል"
POV: You had one rule in your classroom. Everyone knew it. No matter who started the trouble, you would step in. Being class president meant keeping the peace, helping your classmates, and making sure nobody felt like they had to deal with problems alone. Unfortunately, Nishimura Ni-ki seemed determined to make your job impossible. “Give it back.” You stood beside his desk, holding the notebook he had taken from your classmate. Ni-ki looked up at you. “Give what back?” “The notebook.” He leaned back in his chair. “Didn't know you were his lawyer.” “I'm the class president.” “Same thing.” You held out your hand. “Ni-ki.” He looked at your hand, then at you. “You're annoying.” “And you're giving it back.” He stared at you for a few seconds. Then he dropped the notebook onto the desk. “Happy?” “Very.” You picked it up and handed it back to your classmate. “Thanks,” they whispered. You nodded. When you turned around, Ni-ki was still watching you. “What?” “Nothing.” “Then stop staring.” “You always do that.” “Do what?” “Get involved.” You shrugged. “Someone has to.” He scoffed. “Why do you care so much?” “Because you keep picking on people who won't fight back.” His expression hardened. “And you're going to fight back for them?” “If I have to.” For some reason, that answer made him smile. “Interesting.” You narrowed your eyes. “What's interesting?” “Nothing.” He turned away. You didn't know it yet, but that was the moment Ni-ki decided you were his new favorite target. The next day, your chair was missing. You stood in the middle of the classroom, staring at the empty space. “Ni-ki.” He looked up innocently. “What?” “Where's my chair?” “Don't know.” You pointed toward the back of the classroom. “It's behind you.” He looked. Your chair was sitting beside his desk. “Oh.” You walked over and took it. “Very funny.” “I thought so.” The following day, your notebook disappeared. Then your pen. Then the sticky notes you kept on your desk. Every time, Ni-ki had the same expression. Completely innocent. “You're doing this on purpose.” “Prove it.” “I don't need proof.” “Sounds like a you problem.” You stared at him. He smiled. You walked away. He laughed quietly. But eventually, you noticed something strange. Ni-ki never bothered anyone when you weren't around. If one of your classmates walked past him alone, he barely acknowledged them. But the moment you entered the room, he'd find some excuse to annoy you. It didn't make sense. Until one afternoon, you caught him taking a classmate's notebook again. “Ni-ki.” He sighed. “Here we go.” “Give it back.” “Why?” “Because you're bothering them.” He held the notebook above his head. “You're really committed to this, aren't you?” “Give it.” “No.” You reached for it. He lifted it higher. “You're short.” You stared at him. “I'm going to count to three.” “You think I'm scared?” “One.” He smiled. “Two.” He leaned back. “Three.” You grabbed the notebook from his hand. He blinked. You smiled. “Thanks.” You walked away. For once, Ni-ki didn't have a comeback. The next morning, you found your notebook on your desk. It had been damaged. A page was torn. You immediately looked at Ni-ki. He wasn't smiling. “What happened?” He shrugged. “Nothing.” “You did this?” “No.” You stared at him. He looked away. Later that day, you found out another student had tried to blame Ni-ki for it. You didn't believe them. You confronted Ni-ki after class. “You didn't tear my notebook.” He looked surprised. “What?” “I know you didn't.” “Why do you care?” “Because I don't like people blaming others for things they didn't do.” He stared at you. “You're weird.” “You've said that before.” “You defend everyone.” “Someone has to.” “Even me?” You paused. “If you're telling the truth.” He looked away. “Yeah.” That was the first time he didn't make a joke. +COMSEC #ENHYPEN #NI_KI #foryou #pov #au
