Why do we need to concern ourselves with context when we study the Bible? Here is a prime example from Acts 3: Peter is condemning people for choosing to persecute and crucify Jesus immediately after they celebrate the miracle God performed by healing a lame man. The people Peter is condemning are THE SAME PEOPLE who were present when Pilate presented Jesus and Barabbas and had them choose who to set free…and the chose Barabbas. Also, Peter uses a Greek work PAIS for “servant”, and this particular audience would recognize this Greek word as meaning “suffering servant”, which is what the prophet Isaiah used when prophesying the coming Messiah. They would know these things and recall them as Peter spoke! Read your Bible. :)
