Masjids in the Gulf are regulated by the government. There is an institution called Awqaf, and Imams are qualified annually through courses and exams. They Imams, deputy imam, and the maintainer of the masjid are paid by the government. No one has the right to operate the masjid under their own authority. Masjids are closed after every prayer session, only to be reopened when the next prayer time is due. We need strong implementation and enforcement of the laws.
