Wildfire activity intensified across Kalimantan during August, producing plumes of smoke and fine particles that moved towards Sarawak. This visualisation from Fire Emissions Watch tracks the rise in wildfire emissions across Sumatra and Kalimantan from Aug 1 to Sept 2. The smoke and particles from these fires, shown as aerosols on the map, also spread over parts of Malaysia and the wider region.
