The Case Of Brandon Swanson On May 14, 2008, 19-year-old Brandon Swanson was driving home in rural Minnesota after attending a small get-together with friends. Just before 2 a.m., he called his parents to say he had accidentally driven his car into a ditch. He told them he wasn’t injured and asked to be picked up. Brandon stayed on the phone with his father for approximately 47 minutes while his parents tried to locate him on the dark country roads. Both believed they were near each other at different points, but they couldn’t make contact visually. Brandon described walking along gravel roads and mentioned seeing lights in the distance, possibly from a nearby town. At one point during the call, Brandon suddenly exclaimed “Oh!” and the phone went silent. The line disconnected. His father immediately tried calling back, but the calls went straight to voicemail. When Brandon’s parents reached the area where he believed he was, they located his car in a ditch near the town of Taunton, Minnesota. The vehicle showed no significant damage. There were no immediate signs of a struggle, and tracking dogs later followed his scent toward a nearby river before losing it. Despite extensive searches involving law enforcement, volunteers, helicopters, and tracking teams, no confirmed trace of Brandon has ever been found. Investigators have suggested he may have accidentally fallen into the Yellow Medicine River in the darkness, but no physical evidence has ever confirmed that theory.
