@bayequest: Watch the full video on our channel here: https://youtu.be/gw_Ygb35Mgk The Shire Horse is unmatched when it comes to size. Stallions often stand over 17 hands, with some reaching a staggering 19 or even 20. Their weight averages between 1,800 and 2,400 pounds, but it’s the height and sheer presence that make them unforgettable. Their bodies are deep and broad, with arched necks, wide chests, and legs wrapped in thick feathering. They were originally bred in England for heavy-duty tasks, such as hauling carts, pulling brewery wagons, and working in fields. However, a few individuals became legends. Sampson, later renamed Mammoth, still holds the record as the tallest horse ever, standing a jaw-dropping 21.25 hands. Others like Tina, Sovereign, Poe, Cracker, and Goliath carried the legacy with bulk and grace. Despite their size, Shires are calm, gentle, and incredibly willing. They’re giants with golden hearts, quiet, steady, and always ready to work. And that’s what makes them the true heavyweight champions of the horse world. #shirehorse #shirehorses #horsebreed #drafthorse #gentlegiant #giant horse #horsefacts #equine #horselovers #equestrian
