i *did* go to culinary school, and guess what? we learned to cut a watermelon in whichever way is easiest because every melon shape is different. my only SUGGESTION (feel free to ignore it) is how you hold the knife. we learned that this (photo) will put the least amount of strain on your wrist. anyways that watermelon looks GOOD

I grew up in a household, or we didn’t exactly cut watermelon like we bought a watermelon. The top of it was cut off kind of like you had, but it would be left in the fridge with a spoon and we were just carve little pieces out of it to eat slowly make it in to a bowl and it was just leave it in the fridge with saran wrap on the top we didn’t cut it up ever. 😅
