Camille Perez :
Congrats on your little one, sending y’all all the good vibes for a safe delivery! For prep ahead of time, definitely have some freezer meals ready to go. We had about a months worth of meals/breakfast sandwiches and that was a game changer. My wife insisted on the MomCozy bottle sterilizer at first and I thought it wasn’t worth it but boy was a wrong. Especially if she’s planning on breastfeeding (so you can still help with feeding while she rests) game changer and would buy it again. If you live in a house with multiple floors, make sure you have double of everything. Might not seem like a big deal to truck it downstairs to grab the tube of diaper cream now but when it’s 3am, you’ve got 2 hours of sleep. You’ll thank yourself for sure. Clean stuff out now, we had lots of people give us hand me down clothes and we of course bought things. Having it all organized ahead of time helps for the transition from nb to 0-3 months, 3-6 months etc. If you have the means, hire a cleaner to give your house a good deep clean a week or two before your due date, and then if you can, schedule them again for a few months down the road. You’re right that the newborn stage is crazy and a whirlwind and having your surrounding area a little cleaner(and not needing to do the cleaning) helps the mental headspace a lot. For when baby is here, take it all in, the delivery, those small moments with just you and her, the little breaths, tiny finger grasps, take pictures, record videos, and just be as present as you can because they grow so fast (my son is only 8 months now) but you’ll look back at those moments and be so glad you did. For the wifey, postpartum can be crazy and she might not know in the moment but have a good talk before hand, ask her “hey if I’m starting to see x,y,z how can I support you best?” and also connect with her people to make sure they can check in too. Most of all try not to ask in the moment what you can do for her and just do what you think you can (refill her water bottle, grab her tea, bring her a nice pair of warm socks, etc) also if she’s breastfeeding, snacks on DECK lol have a cart in the room a cart in the living room, store some in the baby bag
