Just add it, if don’t like using it then don’t. Baby wakes up and breastfeeds back to sleep it’s amazing to not have to get up you can just grab them bring them into bed and feed them.

See I’m confused too, why do I even need a crib, if I’m doing a bedside bassinet for 6months-12months. When do they start sleeping in their own room? Why did I even set up a nursery?

I’m telling you, YES. We almost didn’t, like why isn’t the crib enough??? I’m TELLING you, for your first kid you will be so so paranoid you will need to / want to sleep within arms distance of your baby. At the two month mark we started putting baby boi into the crib with the camera app open on our phone but I actually couldn’t fall asleep terrified I’d be too tired to hear a cry / not be able to peak over for peace of mind that he didn’t vomit all over himself etc etc

My room is also tiny and we have king sized bed that takes up most of the space. This is my second kiddo and I fully skipped the bassinet and just went with a mini crib (the size of a pack n play) since I prefer to keep my babies room sharing for a while (bc SIDS). I just got a smaller ikea nightstand and have it next to that along the wall. I keep a small basket of breastfeeding stuff and diapers in the night stand and change baby on my bed. You don’t need all the fancy stuff. Also, the reason they say baby in your room for six months is to help lower the risk of SIDS, but it’s also convenient as a nursing mom.

You do not need a cart but you do need a caddy. In that caddy, you will put an egg lamp, diapers, wipes, cream, mobile changing pad, nipple care, change of clothes, extra bassinet sheet, and headphones. That’s going on your bedside table and the only other stuff needed on that table is something for you to drink, possibly snacks, and pump stuff if you’re pumping in the middle of the night. You’ll put the bassinet directly to the side of your bed. Mine had a few inches of room between the Snoo and my bed and it was backed up to the bedside table. When the baby wakes up, turn on your egg light, put them on your breast, and set up your headphones. I recommend watching bravo shows because you can binge and it will keep you awake enough. Then when they start to slow down, bring your mobile changing pad on the bed in front of you and change. Then to the other breast until they are done eating then headphones away and back to bed. You put the dirty diaper in a bag and it goes to the trash when you wake up. You literally do not need to leave your bed in the middle of the night unless it’s for you. It will make falling back asleep between feedings so much easier. since we did that through 6 month old, my 7 month old went straight to a floor bed and has been there ever since. Which I also highly recommend because you won’t need a crib

Totally your call. But the first couple of weeks it was lifesaving to be able to see her, reach for her. Specially when she was eating every 2 hours around the clock

I personally moved my son over to his room after 3 weeks. The bedside bassinet just DIDN’T work for me or my son. I woke him up just waking up to use the bathroom and dropping my phone or even hoping on and the sound went off. You also feel so uncomfortable like you can’t move or they will. He is 2.5 and has been sleeping independently and the entire night since. I think we both created independence and it just felt natural!

Just my opinion, but the bassinet is so convenient! I haven’t eight week old, and he sleeps pretty good at this point. But those first few weeks when they’re up every couple hours to eat it was so nice to just turn on a little damn nightlight, get him out of the bassinet, sit up and nurse, then I just changed him in the bed and put him back down to sleep. We don’t have much room either, I got one that the side zips down, so he’s next to me and if he starts to stir, I can just pat his belly or put his pacifier back in. All babies are so different, but in my opinion, it couldn’t hurt to have one!

I can't imagine having to get up and leave the room 10x a night. My newborn has a bedside bassinet and a charging table in my room. But in the newborn trenches I would change diapers on the bed nurse in the bed have him nap in the bed with me. For me the baby and I where one being for three months their was no separation. I didn't use the nursery or rocking chair ect for the first few months. If I hadn't been able to fit the baby in my room I would have slept with him in the living room or nursery. but that was just my vibe.

I too have a tiny bedroom. It barely fits our king sized bed and one nightstand. We pushed the bed completely too the wall to fit the bedside bassinet and kept the nightstand on my side. I did really love having my baby right next to me especially up until she was 3’o

We have a small bedroom as well and the bassinet blocked my path if I was to get out of bed without climbing over my husband. Our nursery was right across the hall. He slept in his crib and if he wouldn’t go back down in his crib in the middle of the night we co-slept.

I also have a tiny room (Live in nyc) and we do the bassinet. It’s on wheels so we just move it to give more room as needed. Might be worth considering it for overnights and then rolling to their nursery for daytime naps. We wanted her in our room for the recommended 6-12 months. But also it really does cut out on time for the middle of the night feeds!! She sleeps through the night now but we still love having her in here :)

it’s recommended that baby be in your room for the first 6 months! I did bassinet and then ended up bringing the crib into our room and I only have a small gap between my bed and crib to walk but it’s so worth it to have eyes on baby. Wish I would’ve gotten a mini crib convertible instead! I still do all diaper changes in nursery :)

bedside bassinet for me was a must. we also barely have room for it but the frequency of feeds especially when they cluster feed is too much to have in the other room. being able to stay in bed was a necessity. I agree with the poster about having a caddy with everything you need. thats what we do and just change diapers on a changing mat on the bed.

at 2 am the bedside bassinet was crucial. i could reach over and check his breathing. i could feed him half asleep. and I had an unexpected c-section. walking across a hallway wasn't an option at the beginning. but fb marketplace that if you want to save $$

Get a bassinet but don’t spend a lot. We moved our baby to the crib at 3 months as he started rolling a d has slept so much better.

The AAP recommends baby sleeping in your room til 6 months! Do either a pack n play or mini crib because they outgrow a bassinet so quick

You 100% need it. No question. Grab baby out in the middle of the night to feed while sitting in your bed then change on the bed and put right back in the bassinet. Keep a towel or changing pad to use for the bed changes

definitely want a bassinet for how often you’re gonna be feeding in the beginning, they have ones that swing to basically be over the bed, also you can get a waterproof changing pad that folds up to change them on your bed at night & just have a caddy with supplies

YES!!! it rolls to the living room, my baby has bad reflux for a while and we were able to adjust it to a slight incline. I promise if you have a bassinet you can change a diaper in it. Even if ur the most chill mom, you will have a bit of anxiety about baby and they need to be in the room with you. It saved me so much solo to just be able to reach and feel him breath. We made the master bedroom in our apartment the nursery so our room of small I get it
