They are vampires. Maybe not literally in universe but in terms of characterization and themes they are vampires. I mean his name is literally Hugo VLAD (Ravenlock). Vivian’s last name is Banshee (another form of the vampire trope), all of Victoria housekeeping and mockingbird are classical horror themed. The founders of Mockingbird are literally a vampire and a werewolf. Vivian is a banshee, Alexandrina is a poltergeist, Corin is frankensteins monster, Ellen is a shark but fits the greater trope of “sea monster”, and Lycaon is a werewolf.

Pls let this be satire- cuz I've seen SO many people use "Well, Hugo said vampires don't exist so he's not one" as an argument. Im not trying to be rude, but his WHOLE thing is deceiving people. It's literally his job- like yeah he'd lie abt that cuz it's part of his appearance, which can be used to identify him. So he's gotta lie abt it- Not only that, but the amount of vampire references in the Bury Your Tears With The Past (A) artwork is NOT a coincidence.
