Annick Pascal :
I just wanted to say that your reflection is 100% right and resonates with so many autistic parents.
The autism spectrum is incredibly broad, yet unfortunately, from administration to clinical services, common sense, logic, and genuine understanding are often missing when it comes to supporting autistic children.
People receive training, but training alone is not enough. We need practical knowledge, proactive protocols, real-life experience, compassion, and the ability to think beyond a checklist. Our children are individuals, not diagnoses or numbers on a page.
Autism is part of the new generation. Get used to it. Welcome it. Learn about it. Support it. Autism is not a choice, and our children did not choose this life.
What they deserve is understanding, acceptance, appropriate support, and professionals who genuinely listen and care.
It’s time for the system to catch up with our children — not for our children to be forced to fit a system that doesn’t understand them.
