Thank goodness I’m not the only person with problems like this , my daughter was born deaf she is autistic and non verbal had her ear operation in April and still waiting on a o autology hearing test to be completed because my daughter won’t sit still for it to be taken bearing in mind this isn’t the first time coming they are fully aware of the situation but iv been told that they can’t do it if she’s not still so basically I’m struggling to have a follow up appointment after surgery due to my daughter not cooperating 🤷🏼♀️

At least the medical staff and doctors should know what autism is. Are they not taught or trained about autism? This is a huge gap.

I just wanted to say that your reflection is 100% right and resonates with so many autistic parents. The autism spectrum is incredibly broad, yet unfortunately, from administration to clinical services, common sense, logic, and genuine understanding are often missing when it comes to supporting autistic children. People receive training, but training alone is not enough. We need practical knowledge, proactive protocols, real-life experience, compassion, and the ability to think beyond a checklist. Our children are individuals, not diagnoses or numbers on a page. Autism is part of the new generation. Get used to it. Welcome it. Learn about it. Support it. Autism is not a choice, and our children did not choose this life. What they deserve is understanding, acceptance, appropriate support, and professionals who genuinely listen and care. It’s time for the system to catch up with our children — not for our children to be forced to fit a system that doesn’t understand them.

oh wow yeah they should easily be able to accommodate. we get seen at hospital for eye tests. if they cant do letters, hey can do other tests, theres one with a camera and it can pick up if they need glasses (not sure how it works lol), they can also use flash cards if rhe child can do that. like which is the car and they may point or glance at it, there is also the one they can do which isnt fully a test but it tests the reflexes on the eyes by looking at an object etc. however hearing tests are another story for us 😭

No they think the kids with Autism are aliens here in Canada. When I take my son to a walking the doctor doesn’t bother to check him when he has flu. He’s minimal or they just gave him antibiotic which sometimes they do it and that doesn’t work because sometimes you have viral you cannot use antibiotic for anything, although they should understand these kids have really sensitive. They’re really sensitive to certain medication.

My child is autistic 5 years old and was non verbal. But one day he started talking, still not real conversations but he can ask things and tell me when something discomfort him, so it’s a real progress. But autism is so different between each person, I hope maybe one day your son will start to speak, because it’s so much struggle. And also hope that one day the world will be more educated about all special needs people ❤️

You are totally right! My son had an eye test and we were autimatically booked in at a specialist centre even though he doesnt have an official diagnosis! The lady treated him very well and respectfully. You should be seen by a specialist

my son was non verbal and I was told alot of non verbal children get taught sign language so they can communicate I think that's why they asked you 💙

What should we parents do? What we parents should do is to take our children to our cities and gather outside medical facilities and protest all over the world. And make banners with questions and display them. And call international and national media. We can no longer sit silent. If we sit silent, this voice will be silenced. If we raise our voice, a large-scale awareness and discussion about it will also begin. We have to spread this thing like wildfire in the world. As our homes are now among the affected homes. We have to raise questions and protest. We have to raise voices so loud that the government's officials will tremble.

My four-year-old autistic child had a piece of chalk stuck in his ear. When I took him to the ENT doctors at a big hospital in the city. It was late at night. When I told them that the child was autistic and non-verbal, they did not understand what I was saying. They started dealing with the child like a normal child. Even after I told them repeatedly, they did not understand anything. It was a matter of great sadness and regret for me. However, the work was done with great difficulty, but I was deeply saddened that no one at the government level or at the hospital level knew about it. While the number of autistic children in the whole world has now increased to millions. Thankfully, we parents have adapted ourselves and done research about this. We understand every need of our child. We know every pain. But it is a great pity that neither the hospital staff is trained to deal with autism patients if they come with other diseases. Nor has any such awareness been given at the government level. This is all very shameful.

This all happens to me too. I am very surprised when the medical staff does not know what autism is and how to deal with a person or child with it. They just ask different questions from their own pocket. Which makes no sense.

totally get you. Different scenario but same thing, my daughter is scared of hospitals, doctors, dentists the whole lot. This happened due to them trying to insert a cathether in her without any sedation when she was just 4months old. Anyways, she got a decayed tooth and I asked for her to be sedated. I said she won’t let you touch her and even though she’s 4, she has the strength of a man, it takes 3 of us to wash her hair. They didn’t believe me and still booked her in for gas and air! She didn’t let them go near her of course and appointment was a complete failure…they think we exaggerate or something

lol the same happened with my son for his audiology tests, lol they kept calling us and they would put on sounds, tell us, ooh he has to stay in under the microphone bla bla bla. We took our son 5 different times still the same results. I told them i don't mean any disrespect but this boy can hear and his autistic, I don't know why those professionals are not taught how to deal with autistic children. You can't expect him to sit in one position for an hour🤣 lol not my son
