I watched this live the other day. She gets away with so much in the name of being funny/a national treasure 🙄 I will never forget when she was on Graham Norton years ago with Will.i.am she said it was first time she ever hung out with /met a Black American person and he was delightful! 🙄

for reference: high yellow is a derogatory term in the states used to describe someone who is mixed race. not someone who is necessarily ‘light skinned’. it would be considered racism in the states.

I'd never heard the term before so looked it up and really can't believe the US gave a lighter skin colour a name, and it was used up until the mid 20th century too 🙈. I don't think we should be using outdated, or any, derogatory words in 2026
